How to make a carousel post
- Design the cover. Start from the “Carousel cover” template. The first slide decides whether people swipe, so use a big promise: “5 mistakes…”, “How I…”, “Before you buy…”.
- Save the project. Choose File → Save project file. This keeps your fonts, colors and layout.
- Create slide 2. Load the “Carousel slide” template, change the number and text, and download. Repeat for every slide.
- Finish with a call to action. The last slide should tell people what to do next: follow, save, comment or visit your link.
- Upload in order. In Instagram, tap +, choose Post, select multiple images in the right order.
Carousel size
All slides in a carousel use the aspect ratio of the first image. Use 1080 × 1350 (4:5) for every slide — it takes the most space in the feed. Instagram allows up to 20 images per carousel, but 5–10 slides is usually the sweet spot for educational posts.
Why carousels work
Each swipe is an interaction, and people who swipe stay on your post longer. Carousels are also among the most saved formats on Instagram, because they work like mini-guides. If someone does not swipe the first time, Instagram may show the post again starting from the second slide — so slide 2 should be strong on its own too.
Carousel design tips
- Keep a fixed layout: the same margins, fonts and number position on every slide.
- One idea per slide: a short headline and one or two sentences.
- Number the slides (01, 02, 03…) so people know there is more.
- Add a swipe hint on the cover: “Swipe →” or an arrow shape.
- Repeat your handle small at the bottom — slides often get screenshotted and shared.
