YouTube banner size and safe area
YouTube asks for a 2560 × 1440 image, but each device shows a different part of it. TVs show everything; desktops show a wide strip; phones show only the middle. The area visible on every device is the central 1546 × 423 pixels.
Put your channel name, tagline and upload schedule inside the centre strip. Use the rest of the canvas for background color or imagery that can be cropped.
How to make channel art
- Start from “Profile banner” or “Gradient headline”.
- Shrink and center your text so it sits in the middle third of the canvas. The ⇹ and ⇕ buttons center any element.
- Add a background photo or gradient that fills the full 2560 × 1440.
- Download PNG (under 6 MB) and upload it in YouTube Studio → Customization → Branding.
What to include
- Your channel name or logo.
- A short promise: “Easy recipes in 15 minutes”.
- Upload schedule: “New videos every Friday”.
- Optional: social handles — but keep it uncluttered.
